Holidays Unit Weeks 2 & 3 Dec 2018

We had a great time exploring a few December holidays. We explored Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa. We discovered some similarities--special foods, candles, decorations, stories, spending time with family, and gifts.

We loved wrapping presents for each other and writing names on tags in the gift wrap center.

Tree decorating was popular too.

We played the dreidel game. We practiced taking turns, but the best part was eating the chocolate pieces when we were done.

We made cereal necklaces and ate them while we played. We wrapped something special for our families too.

We were in our very first concert ever. The children were excited, nervous, happy, proud--so many feelings. We sang 2 songs and did a penguin dance.

Our had many adults join us for Family Fun Day. We made reindeer hats and ate reindeer sandwiches. We read books, drew our favorite thing about the holiday, continued patterns, and a few other activities.

Finally we finished our unit with pajama day. We read and acted out The Polar Express. We played board games in small groups.

We received a couple presents. The PTO let every child choose a water bottle and the teachers gave everyone their own book to keep.

We had fun with friends too.

When we come back in January we will be reading a few versions of The Gingerbread Man and have Gg show & share.
