Mo Willems Pigeon Week

We had a blast reading the various Pigeon books by Mo Willems this week. The most requested book for repeated readings was Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus, with The Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog a close second. Pigeon experiences a range of emotions in each story; we explored what our faces looked like expressing different feelings and then drew some of them.

We traced and cut out shapes to make our own Pigeon and each child dictated a story about their Pigeon. They are currently on display in the hall by our classroom.

Our cooking project was making Pigeon Tracks with a cracker, spreading peanut butter, and adding 4 pretzels to make his leg and toes.

We listened to the Rubber Ducky song and washed our classroom animals when we read The Pigeon Needs a Bath. We have the cleanest animals in the building!

We played together in many other centers as well. One child created a robot in the art center and everyone respected her work and left it alone for her to continue working on all week.

Next week will work on a special Valentine for our family while focusing on manners, friendship, and healthy foods. Family Fun Day is Thursday, February 8.
