Other popular activities during Family Fun Day were making a trail mix, creating our own dinosaurs from play dough, and reading stories.
We spent lots of time playing with our friends throughout the week--sometimes with dinosaurs and sometimes without.
We tried some new activities to help with our finger control and eye movements too.
Tied it all by herself
For our cooking project we made dinosaur food. we used some unusual ingredients like swamp water (milk), dirt (cocoa), crushed bones (sugar), dino fat (butter), grass (oatmeal), and squashed bugs (peanut butter). Everyone had a chance to sample the tasty treats with about half of the AM class and all of the PM class asking for seconds.
The classroom dinos tried to sneak a few bites. In the AM they got to the pan. In the afternoon the children decided to show them how to use good manners and shared snack with them.
Sampling spilled crushed bones (sugar)
We wrapped up our week by doing an experiment. Everyone had a turn to add baking powder, dish soap, food coloring, or vinegar to our volcano. We repeated it three times in each class and if we had more vinegar, we would have kept going. They LOVED it. You can try it at home--in a 3oz cup place 2 tsp baking soda, 1 tsp dish soap, a few drops of food coloring, and a quick pour of vinegar--in that order. It is messy but so much fun.
Next week we will turn our focus to the season of spring!
