Safety Review Week Feb 27-Mar 2

This week we reviewed fire safety and 911. We talked about what is an emergency and who some of the community helpers are in an emergency. Please review your family's fire safety plan and where your meeting place outside is--some children remembered and others did not when I asked them. We talked about our first & last names, ages, and our parent's real names. We read a story Once Upon a Dragon: Stranger Safety for Kids and Dragons to help us start the conversation about stranger safety.

We took a short walk around the school looking for signs. We found many exits, a couple stop signs, some fire extinguisher signs, an AED sign, and restroom signs. We were very quiet and pointed to them when we spotted them.

We made a project to practice our phone numbers. We will keep them here for a few weeks to practice and then send them home.  We made exit signs to put by our doors at home too.

We had fun with our friends and created in the art center. A group of AM children, inspired by our sign hunt, decided to make signs for their classmates with their names on them. They used the job chart so they could spell them.

To celebrate Read Across America Day, we read The Lorax by Dr. Seuss and made our dressed up our faces to look like the Lorax.

Next week we are looking forward to exploring dinosaurs!
