We used a variety of seeds to make name posters. They look great in our hallway.
We also used red, white, and blue paint and paper to make decorations for Veteran's Day. Those will be up soon.
Thursday we carved the big pumpkins we got last week on our field trip--they were heavy. In the afternoon we first tried the blue-green one, but that was so solid we couldn't really get it open and when we did there weren't many seeds, so we did a small one too. On Friday we baked the seeds and tasted them. About half of the children asked for more.
We heard Jack and the Beanstalk again and now have large beanstalks to retell the story with or haul around in trucks--they are so big it takes more than one truck!
We have had parts of the art center open, but this week the whole thing was opened up. We were VERY busy working, experimenting, and creating.
Friday we also took our thank you pictures for the DonorsChoose project that was funded at the beginning of the school year. We are looking forward to reading about the artists and looking at their pictures.
We played in other centers too.
Next week we will explore fall through Halloween and pumpkin stories.
