Trains Week

We read about trains and learned there are freight trains that haul stuff and passenger trains that transport people. We drew a picture of what we would like our own train car to carry.

The highlight of our week was walking to and from the railroad tracks. We saw flowers, fire hydrants, birds, squirrels,  cat, some dogs, and even a bee as we walked.

The morning class did see a train while they were there and it was LOUD, but the PM class only heard one from inside our classroom while reading our story.

We explored the tracks--felt the rails, balanced on them, and found treasures including rocks and pieces of metal.

We explored crossing signal too. We noticed how tall it was, how big the bolts were, and felt how solid it was. Thank you to the volunteers that were able to walk along with us--it helped make it a smooth adventure.

In the AM Gage's grandma treated us to an ice cream cone.

In the PM there was a mystery involving an escape. There has been lots of discussion and speculation about a dog. (wink, wink)

We celebrated Mrs. Hruby's birthday with a popcorn party while we watched a short popcorn video on the Smart-board.

The next couple weeks we will review some stories and activities we have done throughout the year.
