On Monday we focused on red. We walked to the park and read a story the Clifford the Big Red Dog. We also listened to clues about red items in a bag and guessed what they could be. One item was a Cardinal replica and we listened to its song. On the way back to school we spotted a fire hydrant.
On Tuesday we focused on orange. After finding orange on our clothes and on pictures in our room we took turns marble painting with a partner. In the afternoon we even had oranges for snack.
On Wednesday we focused on yellow. We again listened to clues about yellow items and guessed what they could be. We compared the songs of the red cardinal, the robin with the orange tummy, and the yellow goldfinch. We made and explored yellow oobleck--2 parts cornstarch and 1 part water and a few drops food coloring (go ahead and try it at home).
On Thursday we focused on blue. We followed a recipe and made blue play-doh and later we finger painted with blue.
Next week we will have more colorful fun starting with green!
