Wow, here we are at our last blog of the year. Next week we will only have class on Monday and Tuesday. It is hard to believe we will close out our year, but enough about next week--let's take a look at what we did this week!
Tuesday we spent about 45 minutes with David Stokes learning about some animals in Wisconsin. He used songs, sign language, and sooo many hands-on examples. We looked at, felt, and tried on turtle shells. We saw and touched many live critters too including turtles, frogs, tadpoles, and snakes.
Wednesday we read and acted out The Very Hungry Caterpillar. We first made an egg with our hand. When the caterpillar hatched out we used our whole arm. Finally we flew around like beautiful butterflies.
Thursday we enjoyed a picnic in the park with our families. It was great to have so many family members join us to eat and watch us sing our songs.
Friday we mostly enjoyed playing together, but we also were able to pick out 12 books per child at the Free Book Fair. Research shows that reading at least 12 books a summer for students in grades K-2 and at least 4 books for students in grades 3-5 will help prevent the "summer slide". The books have been provided by donations made from our generous community. Enjoy time reading them together throughout the summer.
I didn't get the notes until after the children left for the day...so here is the info.
Thank you to everyone for a wonderful year. I love getting to know your children and watching them learn and grow throughout the year. Thank you also for all the classroom supplies, willingness to lend a hand, and the words of support and encouragement. Have a wonderful and safe summer!
