Apples Week 1 Sept 24-27 2018

We started off our week with a walk to the park and the apple orchard near the high school. We noticed the trees, branches, and apples. In the afternoon we recited the rhyme Jack & Jill while running up and rolling down the hill.

Tuesday we made paper apples to decorate the tree in our hallway. We worked our fingers by tearing paper and gluing it on the apple shape. Later we cut them out.

We were super excited to have so many family members join us for Family Fun Day on Wednesday. We read stories, used our hands and paint to make trees, stamped our names, used punches to make leaves or apples for numbered trees, and chose fruit to make individual fruit salads. We also cut up apples--no worms this year, but we did find out the apples floated but the seeds sank.

We finished our week by cooking apple crisp. We took turns adding looking at, smelling, and adding ingredients. Almost everyone tasted the apple crisp--some did not care for it and others asked for seconds.

Next week we are looking forward to finally going to the forest. We will continue with our apple theme. Also next week Tuesday, October 2nd a school wide assembly will take place at 9:00 am for a presentation from the Children's Alopecia Program. The morning class will be in session, but the afternoon class will not see it unless a family members would like to bring them in and sit with them.
