We spent the week learning facts about animals that live in the wild in other parts of the world. Each child chose an animal they were interested in learning about. We wrote the animal's name, colored letters to match the animals skin/hide, and read a book to learn specific information. We placed pictures of the animals on the continent they live in and placed pictures on a Venn diagram about what kinds of food they eat. Finally each child drew about a fact they learned and we wrote what they said. The hall display is started and next week we will have the children's pictures and drawings up. Animal pictures were hidden around the room and each day the children added them to our graph as they were found. Somedays we found all of them and some days we had to figure out how many were still hiding. We went on a safari and counted animals and then wrote the number on another day. We have also been adding more colors with different painting tools to our boards--we used apple slices (purple) and marker caps or cardboard tubes (orange).
