Wild Animal Week April 23-27, 2018

We had a great week exploring wild animals from other continents. We listened to stories, poems, and songs about a variety of animals.A favorite song was "Lion Prowl" by Debbie Clements--we prowled like a lion and listened to hear the roar.

Each child chose an animal (there were 6 choices) to learn more about. Throughout the week we noticed what color the animal was and colored a letter to resemble it, read where they live in the wild and what they eat, and we drew a picture to show something new we learned about about the animal.

Wanted everyone to see they lost a tooth last night

We went on a safari to find groups of animals, count them, and write the number.

We found hidden animal pictures and figured out how many were still hiding based on a chart.

Mrs. Olson has been out sick for a while so we made Get Well cards to send to her.

We changed up the opening circuit and learned how to do eye trackers.

We did an experiment with pine cones we brought back from the forest on Monday. After passing a closed one around, we noticed it felt wet or damp in spots but all the open ones were dry. We put the open ones in water and about 20 minutes later we noticed the wet side was closing.

We had lots of time with our friends in the art center, ramps, dress up, puppets, and kitchen.
